" I really hope that private landowners really consider the possibillities. I know that there are lots of skeptics out there. I, as well as many other locals, would love to have something so close and so accessible. Spending time with my family outdoors is what I love to do. Hopefully, more local organizations such as churches, 4-H, Dept. of Agriculture, and others will get involved. I definitely will be getting involved. "

" Our family would love the opportunity of this 90-mile trail. Carrollton and North Carrollton may not look like much and if you blink an eye you might miss it, but our community has a lot to offer, especially with a trail like this one. Along with the fact that MS is the fatest state in the U.S., this trail would be a huge opportunity to improve health for more individuals in our area. There is not much to offer in North Carrollton, so needless to say, I would be willing to pay for this renovation and implementation to take place. "

" I grew up in Greenwood and have lived in Hattiesburg since 1971. Our Longleaf Trace is a wonderful place. I ride it occassionally and the scenery is beautiful. There are "sign in" places at various points and I am fascinated by the people who drive to Hattiesburg just to ride or hike the Trace. I would encourage everyone in Greenwood and the towns and cities along the C & G to support this project."

" The conversion of the C&G Railway to a pedestrian and bike path under the Rails to Trails program would be a great opportunity for the State of Mississippi, and especially for the citizens of Greenwood. One of the things that Greenwood lacks most are creative opportunities for public recreation. And since Mississippi was once again honored with the "2007 Fattest State in the Country" award by the Trust for America's Health, it is clear that we could all use a few new recreational opportunities. In addition, a bike path running from West Point to Greenwood would undoubtedly bring in cycling tourists, generating tourism taxes for the city and small business opportunities for bicycle retail and repair shops. In short, this is definitely a project that the City should wholeheartedly support. Not only would it benefit the city's coffers, it would also benefit the health and wellness of the entire State of Mississippi. "
